The project of establishing Yun-Chia-Nan Environmental Education Regional Center

Absrtact
The Yun–Chia–Nan Environmental Education Regional Plan, which is implemented in Yunlin County, Chiayi County, Chiayi City, and Tainan City, is currently involved with Environmental Education (EE) Capacity, a program aimed at promoting environmental education through five dimensions: professional leadership, capacity-enhancing learning, technological support, research evaluation, and promotion through partnership. Under the guidance of the Environmental Protection Administration, industry, the government, academia, institutions, and civilian resources and personnel combine to form a partnership network, and a professional learning community is established for the network to promote environmental education. In coordination with various communities and nongovernmental organizations, the partnership network conducts transverse communication and promotes longitudinal ideas. Local networks are formed at different phases of progress. In addition, local and partnership databases are established. Thus, participating groups and partnerships can be expanded to further promote environmental education among the public, thereby enhancing the progress of environmental education, improving local environments, and attaining environmental sustainability. Regarding professional leadership, the Environmental Protection Administration should focus their environmental education policies on the issues pertaining to cigarette butt disposal, air pollution, and water conservation. Local key environmental topics should be analyzed. Environmental education should incorporate the aforementioned topics. Regarding capacity-enhancing learning, six counseling sessions on specific topics were hosted alongside workshops and other environmental education activities. On September 15, an activity centered on cigarette butt disposal was hosted in accordance with government requirements; four partner nongovernmental organizations acquired assistance in applying for subsidies for environmental education; one of these organizations was a school in a remote area and one had never previously applied for subsidies. In coordination with the Central Environmental Education Regional Center, an end-of-year results presentation was organized on October 28. Regarding technological support, the website of said regional center was consistently maintained by the Environmental Protection Administration on a monthly basis. Four bimonthly electronic newsletters were published, and four online meetings were hosted by the Central Environmental Education Regional Center to discuss joint promotion of environmental education. Regarding research evaluation, the regional center hosted three work meetings and one internal performance assessment alongside partner organizations on a regular basis. At the end of the year, five committee members were invited to evaluate the environmental education promotion results of the center. Regarding promotion through partnership, the regional center formed partnerships with 72 units to promote environmental education, and assisted these units in hosting six environmental education activities centered on specific topics. Four partner exchange meetings were hosted.
